A view from the 26th floor downtown onto Cape Town's skyline of the waterfront and harbour at sunset is rather spectacular and not for the fainthearted. (Our photographer assured us that as he was above a certain height he could deal with his vertigo!) Moet Champagne flowed and canapes kept us fuelled before stepping into a room full of golden delights and the introduction to Bvlgari's third fragrance addition to the Bvlgari Goldea line, Goldea The Roman Night.

The face of Bvlgari's latest fragrance, supermodel Bella Hadid, is the quintessential element of a millenial who embodies the golden fragrance. (Studies reflect that by 2020, millenials will form 50% of the global workforce which means big spending power, so we're seeing more and more luxury brands catering for this generation).

Top notes include juicy dark sensual fruits with the rarest of peonies, the black peony, to conjure up a mysterious dark side of this flower, combined with a delicate innocence that comes through from the middle notes of Indian jasmine and Tuberose. Both of these only flower after dark; the former an intoxicating powerful scent and Tuberose, a star jewel in perfume notes, is delicate and hypnotic, an electrifying scent, sometimes referred to as 'the mistress of the night'! Base notes of black musks, patchouli and vetiver form a fragrant trilogy of powerful sensual notes.

I love the combination of fruity and floral notes on first spray, settling down with sensual and powerful warm earthy woody notes, a scent I have been wearing for the past few days (and nights!)

Bvlgari Goldea The Roman Night will be exclusive to Edgars and available from the 31 JULY 2017
